In the current article, the authors try to answer the following questions: 1) what was the real aim of the war? 2) Was it in line with their interests or not? In order to answer these two questions, by adopting a descriptive analytical approach and considering game theory as our framework and dividing the war into three steps (1. Argentina chooses between the current state and attacking the Islands, 2. Britain’s reaction and its decision on whether to show a military response, impose sanctions or diplomatic responses, 3. In the final phase it is time for Argentina’s response and its decision between leaving the Islands and continuing negotiations or war with Britain). The results show that Falkland war happened because of misperceptions and misunderstanding of the other player’s priorities and choices from the very first step of the war till its end. جنگ فالکلند در سال 1982 میان آرژانتین و بریتانیا درگرفت. این جنگ توسط آرژانتین آغاز و درنهایت با شکست آرژانتین نیز پایان یافت. در مقاله پیش­رو، نگارندگان قصد دارند به سؤالات زیر پاسخ دهند: 1) علت اصلی وقوع جنگ فالکلند چه بود؟ 2) آیا این جنگ، گزینه‌ای در راستای منافع و اهداف آرژانتین و بریتانیا بوده است یا خیر؟ در راستای پاسخگویی به این دو سؤال، با رویکرد توصیفی تحلیلی و در چارچوب نظریه بازی­ها، جنگ فالکلند در سه مرحله (1. انتخاب آرژانتین میان پذیرش وضع فعلی و یا حمله به جزایر،2. واکنش بریتانیا و انتخاب بین واکنش نظامی، تحریم و یا دیپلماسی و 3. در مرحله آخر، پاسخ آرژانتین مبنی بر تخلیه جزایر و ادامه مذاکره و یا جنگ با بریتانیا) قرار می­گیرد. یافته­های این پژوهش نشان می­دهد که جنگ به دلیل عدم‌تشخیص مناسبِ اولویت­ها و انتخاب­های طرفین از مرحله اول شکل‌گیری نزاع تا مرحله آخر جنگ، روی داد. https://interpolitics.guilan.ac.ir/article_2183_31a42eb81764b4386c6ac50f6cfe0642.pdf
