1️⃣ Journal Introduction

World Politics Quarterly is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal with double-blind review and open access, published in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at the University of Guilan and the Iranian Association of International Relations in Rasht, Iran. The journal has been active since Summer 2012 (Summer 1391 in the Iranian calendar) and, according to the license from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, has held scientific-research credibility since its first issue.

This quarterly journal provides a platform for publishing original and high-quality research in the fields of global politics, international relations, regional studies, and strategic developments in the international system.

The journal aims to promote scientific discourse at national and international levels and welcomes articles that, with analytical, critical, or theoretical approaches, examine foreign policy issues, major powers, international institutions, global security, international political economy, international law, and related topics.

  • World Politics Quarterly © is published by University of Guilan Press under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

  • This journal does not operate under subscription-based access, and all articles are freely available to users.

  • Authors fully retain the moral and economic rights of their work while granting the journal the right to publish in print, digital, online formats, and internal and international indexes.

  • All financial benefits belong to the journal and the publisher.

  • This right is only revoked if the author officially withdraws before final acceptance or the article is rejected by the journal.

CC BY-NC 4.0 License allows users to distribute, remix, adapt, and expand the work in any medium or format, provided that:

  • Attribution: The author and journal are properly cited.

  • NonCommercial: Use is solely for non-commercial purposes.

4️⃣ Copyright Ownership

  1. Authors retain full copyright of their articles.

  2. Both moral and economic rights of the work are preserved.

  3. Authors maintain complete control over use, distribution, republication, and other scholarly applications of their article, even after publication.

  4. Publication in the journal does not transfer ownership of the work to the journal.

5️⃣ Publication Ethics Statement

  1. The journal is committed to publication ethics based on COPE guidelines.

  2. Authors are responsible for scientific integrity, transparency, and respecting the rights of others.

  3. Reviewers and the editorial board must maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and rigorous scientific evaluation.

  4. Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification will result in rejection.

  5. The journal is not a COPE member, but fully adheres to all COPE ethical standards.

6️⃣ Conflict of Interest Policy

  1. Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest upon submission.

  2. Reviewers and editorial board members must refrain from evaluating or making decisions if a conflict of interest exists.

  3. Transparency in conflict disclosure ensures scientific trust and journal credibility.

7️⃣ Open Access Policy  

The University of Guilan, as the publisher of World Politics Quarterly, fully adopts and adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). This journal is a fully open-access, periodic quarterly. All articles, upon acceptance (early view) and after publication (fully open and free access), are immediately available online for all users.

  • Free and open access for readers worldwide;

  • Increased accessibility, visibility, and readership of articles;

  • Increased citation of articles;

  • No geographical restrictions on access;

  • Rapid and timely publication.

8️⃣ Plagiarism Check Policy

  1. All articles are checked using the IranDoc similarity detection system.

  2. Maximum allowed overlap: 14%.

  3. If plagiarism is detected in the text or abstract, the article is immediately rejected, and the authors are blacklisted for five years.

  4. Authors are advised to check their manuscripts with similarity detection software before submission.

9️⃣ Archiving and Storage Policy

  • The journal acknowledges the importance of long-term preservation and access for authors, researchers, librarians, and other stakeholders.

  • All articles, in addition to online publication, are archived in internal and international indexing databases to ensure permanent and long-term access.

1️⃣1️⃣ Fees

  1. Submission and initial review fee: None

  2. Peer review fee: 3,500,000 IRR plus 2500,000 IRR

    • Charged only for articles ready for publication.

  3. Publication fee: According to Ministry of Science Circular No. 40879 dated 24/02/1401, the journal may charge up to 6,000,000 IRR for accepted articles.

    • 3500,000 IRR is charged only for articles accepted and scheduled for publication.

    • Payment is made via the following University of Guilan account link: Journals / Scientific Journal Management.

  4. Article typesetting fee: 2500,000 IRR for typesetting articles scheduled for publication.

    • This fee is not included in the maximum 6,000,000 IRR allowed by the journal license.

    • All typesetting is the responsibility of the authors.

    • The journal facilitates typesetting through a professional designer only upon payment of the typesetting fee.
