The Counter-Revolutionary in The International System, Fundamentals and Practical Aspects

Abstract

.
In order to maintain their dominance in the global arena, the main actors in the international system have a conservative behavior and character, and as such, emphasizing the "status quo", to preserve a relatively homogeneous and coherent system and prevent radical changes in the structure of the international system. However, the Great revolutions that occur in the international system deal with universal and cross-border ideas and principles which promise to save whole humanity by implementing radical changes in the global system. Although the salvation and messianic ideas of Great revolutions cause enthusiasm among the nations, but the basic structure of the international system and the main actors of the international community, as protectors of the status quo, will oppose to such ideas and behaviors. They launch a series of coordinated actions against these "rogue actors". Thus, the Great revolutions by their global goals and transnational principles challenge the global order and stability and cause an anti-revolutionary trend in the international system. This article, tries to understand why and how a wave of anti-revolutionary attitudes and actions are engendered against the Great revolutions (France, Russia, China and Iran).
