The current research examines the foreign policy approaches of Barack Obama and Donald Trump towards the developments in the Middle East from the perspective of offshore balance. Both governments have tried to avoid direct US intervention in the region and deal with threats such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and China's influence. Using smart diplomacy and soft methods, Obama has withdrawn military forces from regional wars and strengthened human rights sanctions and America's position. On the other hand, Trump has tried to deal with Iran's influence with the policy of maximum pressure, withdrawing from the JCPOA and bringing the Arab countries and Israel closer in the form of the Abraham Accords. In addition, both governments took limited military action only in limited cases, which is a selective intervention and in the framework of the offshore balance strategy, to repel major threats in the Middle East, which has been manifested in Yemen and Syria and the coalition against terrorism. This article has collected the data in a library form using the comparative method and the theoretical framework of Offshore Balance.
